It is not right just to devote yourself to China and not to the UK because you were born here. This country has helped to raise you. And yet it is not right just to devote yourself to the UK and not to China because denying your ancestral origins is considered to be ungrateful.

Jo Kao MAN
Retired Restaurant Business Owner

Origin - Hong Kong

Mr. Man Jo Kao came to the UK for a better life in 1952. He struggled for quite some time before he set up his own business and improved the lives of his family. Mr. Man's heart had always been with China and over the years, he has started nationalist campaigns in the UK. He organised China tours for Chinese to visit or return to the home country; he also opened a Chinese school to promote Chinese culture. Mr. Man has sacrificed a lot for his beliefs. He was accused of being a communist and was shunned by his own sister. Mr. Man is now 84 years old and his passion for his country can only get stronger. He has no regrets about his past actions and is proud of his belief in his country. Mr. Man still takes on important roles in today's Chinese community.
